Pindon Dennis Williams was born on December 4,1931 in Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies to the late Delsie and Philip Williams. He was affectionately known by family as Papa or Pops and his friends called him Willie. He grew up in a loving home as one of 7 children, Cecil, Pearl, Grace, Cherry, Enid and Deney. He spent his early years in Highgate where he enjoyed farming and taking care of the animals.
As a young man, Pindon moved to Kingston, where he met and married Jelion, who was his true love. With this union, he was blessed with his daughter Opal and step- daughter, Juliet. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He worked for the island’s electric company, Jamaica Public Service as an assistant surveyor for more than 25 years and enjoyed traveling around the island which the job required. Pindon was very meticulous and paid attention to the fine details that escaped most people. He enjoyed using his technical skills to make or fix things in his spare time. He was an excellent swimmer and he loved swimming far out into the Caribbean sea. He attended Portmore Gospel Assembly every Sunday while he was able and always responded with, “Give God Thanks” to anyone who asked how he was doing.
In August, 1978, he migrated to New York with his wife, Jelion and daughter, Opal. He worked for Mechanical Development Corporation until he retired and returned to live in Jamaica.
In 2021, at the age of 89 years old, Pindon moved to California to be closer to his family. This was an immense change for him but he did it with enormous grace and courage. We got to rediscover his charm, wit and sense of humor. It was a true blessing to have him nearby. He was very proud of his good health and always stated that doctors would be out of business if they had to depend on him to be a patient.
On the morning of June 11, 2024, Pindon went peacefully to meet his Lord. His final resting place will be burial at sea in Jamaica.
Pindon leaves behind his wife Jelion; daughter Opal and step-daughter Juliet; sons-in- law Jean Pierre and Brian; grandchildren Simone and Xavier; sisters Pearl, Enid and Deney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
