Stratton Matinas

Huntington Beach

Stratton was a kind and caring man who dedicated his life to his family.

Stratton Matinas, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home on January 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1938, in Pampa, Texas and moved to California in the 1940’s, along with his parents James and Frieda, his brother Frank and sister Pauline. He has lived in Huntington Beach, California, since 1967 with his wife of almost 61 years, Cherry. Stratton is survived by his wife Cherry and his three children, Beth (Kenneth), James (Jennifer) and Christopher (Katie), as well as his eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Stratton enlisted in the Army after the Korean War. After his service he opened a very successful Insurance Agency. In addition to the love of his family, Stratton loved to travel with his wife Cherry, they traveled all around Europe, China and the U.S. Stratton was famous for stopping into any nook and shop he could find! He was always curious to find a hidden gem or interested to speak to the local people. He loved to plan fun activities for the kids during family parties, he was happiest with everyone gathered together.

May God Bless You, Dad. We love you dearly and

our memories of you will always be with us.

 “Immortality”

by Clare Harner

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the

morning’s hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circling flight

I am the soft star that shines at night.

I am not there; I did not die.
